"Because in New Orleans, everybody gets to be a jerk sometimes."
We're almost through the solstice and the day, so it is very encouraging. Merry Christmas!! thanks, sp
Yay! I think we'll be OK! Happy Yule and Merry Christmas to you and your's down NOLA way.
I've been given to understand that my mother's step-grandfather was involved in Civil Defense back in Crowley, La, around the 1930's. That, however, was only his part-time job. His full-time job was as an importer of olive oil from Sicily. Interestingly, though, again according to my mother, it wasn't olive oil he was importing but rather young men who found a pressing need to leave the homeland in order to find a place to begin their lives anew. Something to do with what those quaint people termed la vendetta.
@Sussah & Pauline: Looks like this sorry old earth will be all right for a while. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas too!@Glenn: Interesting sidelight on preparedness. But I'm having a hard time imagining how defending Crowley from Eunice was even a part-time gig back in the 30s. And a Merry Christmas to you while we're at it!
